Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not just a name in the cricket
fraternity but has an entirely different fan base altogether. The name itself
brings a lot of flashbacks and memories of all the legendary matches Indian
Cricket has witnessed, especially the 2011 ICC World Cup. “Dhoni finishes off
in style, a magnificent strike into the crowd. India lifts the World Cup after
28 years!”, these lines still give goosebumps to many of us. Since 2007, Dhoni
has set an example of being a brilliant Captain and gave us numerous
lessons to learn.
1. Be Bold, Take Risk
We have seen Dhoni changing batting orders at the
last moment, we have seen him experimenting with young blood and above all, giving them the chance to rise and learn. Without taking risks, it’s not
possible to attain your vision and success. He not only proves that taking
risks is mandatory but also highlights that not every risk you take will be a
win-win situation for you. There might be times when your decisions do not work
as you planned it, but it will always give you a sense of wisdom.
2. Patience and Perseverance
Sports is an unpredictable tale of loses and
wins. Not every match you play can be a win for you and losing patience can
lead you to a major downfall. Dhoni has been a sheer example of moving forward
with patience and focus on the goals to be achieved. Examining every match strategically before the game and working upon each over wisely can be a great
take away from the captain.
3. Backing Your Team
Success comes with a taste of failure and
vice-versa. Being a captain not only requires great decision-making skills but
also involves taking responsibility for defeat and backing the team during
tough times. We have always seen this man celebrating in silence and taking a
stand for his team from the front.
4. Inculcate Calmness
Staying balanced through up’s and down’s is yet
another beautiful take away from Captain Cool Dhoni. Mahi is known for his
calmness and composure during a hectic and crucial match, reflecting a sense of
belief to the teammates and making the team focus on their strengths in the
middle of an over. We have also seen him celebrating success and accepting
failure with the same poise and grace.
